Floyd Setup

Too High of Tilt Too Low of Tilt
Guitar Tips Guitar Tips
If the guitar is in tune to desired key and the tremolo is tilting as shown (not straight with body), then here are the steps to adjust your tremolo.

Step 1

Guitar Tips
Remove back panel to expose springs.
Guitar Tips
Some guitars may contain foam to deaden spring vibration. Remove foam.

Step 2

Guitar Tips
Loosen nut bolts so strings can be retuned later.

Step 3

Guitar Tips
Adjust fine tuners on tremolo so their threaded half way (Not all the way tight or loose). This will give you adjustment for tuning after lock-nut is tightened down.

Step 4

Guitar Tips
Adjust springs as shown in picture. Center spring straight, outside springs angled. To remove a spring, pull spring out from tremolo side first, not claw side. One spring at a time. Wear gloves. It is prefered to use no more than 3 springs. Always leave at least on spring in during this process. Tune guitar after springs are adjusted.

Step 5

Claw Adjustment
Guitar Tips
With the guitar in tune, look at tremolo. If tremolo is tilting up, claw screws need to be tightened. If tremolo is titling down, claw screws need to be loosened. If it is your first time, turn both adjustment screws one complete turn. Retune guitar. You should notice some improvement. Repeat this procedure until tremolo is flat with body of guitar.

Finished Setup

Guitar Tips
If tremolo is level with body and guitar is in tune, then you have finished your adjustment. Lock down the nut and return cover over spring cavity. Use your fine tuners to bring your guitar into perfect tuning.
